After a 2-4 start to the season, Cretin-Derham Hall has been riding high and has ascended to the top of the Suburban East Conference standings.

The early struggles were, at least partly, due to a top-heavy schedule in which the Raiders, ranked No. 7 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, lost in overtime to No. 3-4A Lakeville North (82-74) on Dec. 10 and dropped games against No. 5-4A Apple Valley (79-51), No. 13-4A Park Center (64-61) and No. 4-4A Wayzata (86-70) from Dec. 13-29.

Since the start of the new year, Cretin-Derham Hall (12-4, 8-0) has been unbeatable, winning 10 straight games and completing a perfect run through the first half of the league schedule. The Raiders look to begin their victory lap Tuesday at East Ridge, a team it defeated 66-61 in their first meeting on Jan. 7. In the game, the Raptors (11-4, 6-2) mounted a late comeback before falling short, but they have harnessed that effort to win four of the last five games.

Cretin-Derham Hall has won six straight games against East Ridge, although five have been decided by six points or less. Given the Raptors' home-court advantage and the push to upend the Raiders, the rematch should be a spirited clash and earns our selection as Top Game of the Week.
